Austin's tenOak Bourbon Bar Gets Bloody

From Thrillist:

The buffet's the best thing in the world: you can eat as much as you want, leave anything you don't like unfinished, and, as evidenced by the new 5 O'Clock Somewhere line of wall clocks, monetize even the lamest song. Offering an even boozier buffet than Buffett, tenOak.

Designed by the dudes behind Speakeasy and Imperia, tenOak's a woody transformation of the old Cuba Libre space, featuring a center bar adorned with backlit oak branch-evoking metal fixtures, elevated leather booths, paintings of lingerie-clad women, and, despite their emphasis on bourbon, a massive Sunday Bloody Mary Buffet, far better than a Something About Mary Buffet, because you don't need protein that bad. Just a buck a cup, the SBMB showcases locally made Savvy vodka, with options including base (V8, clamato, Zing Zang, wasabi/ginger house mix), savory & spicy juices (12 incl Sriracha, pickle, steak sauce), beer (ginger, XX, Lone Star, Miller Light...), dry seasonings (from beer bullion to ancho chili sugar), fresh veggies/herbs, pickled veggies (okra, asparagus, ginger...), meaty garnishes (bacon, clams...), cheese (Gouda, cheddar, bleu...), and rimmers like bacon sea salt, Cajun seasoning, and a Southwest rub, which hopefully doesn't involve an Indian sunburn. As for the brown liquor, they boast one of the ATX's largest small-batch caches, including Pappy van Winkle 20yr, Four Roses, and Eagle Rare 10, plus scotches from Laphroaig 10, to Pig's Nose 5, to Yamazaki 12yr, which thanks to cultural emphasis, does math at a 15yr level.

To further savory up the deal, tenOak also slings a staggering selection of small plates like Pulled Pork Bourbon BBQ Nachos, Gourmet Shrimp Corn Dogs, a Tempura Battered Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich, and the "Original House-Stuffed Hamburger" -- better than a Cheeseburger in Paradise, in that it hasn't been turned into a gift-store throw pillow.

Their Facebook is running a contest for best Bloody recipe, with the winner receiving a dinner for two; check it out HERE.
