Mississippi's Hwy. 302 - Double Barreled Festivals

This Saturday (March 20, 2010) you can enjoy two different food festivals located along Mississippi's Hwy. 302. The hamlets of Lake Horn and Olive Branch are less than 20 miles apart but are offering substantially different approaches to food and fun.  So pack the hybrid with the kiddies and to the heart of the Mid-South.

The Horn Lake Chamber of Commerce Mississippi Music Heritage Series presents Crawfest, A Zydeco Celebration! on March 20 at the Jellystone RV Park Camp-Resort from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. featuring Thomas "Big Hat" Fields and his Foodstompin' Zydeco Band. Event festivities include crawfish races, karaoke contest, moon bounce, horseshoe contest and fresh crawfish by the pound. The highlight of the day's activities will be the Zydeco Dance Contest. Don't know how?

Not to be outdone nearby Olive Branch is ringing is Spring and Celebrating National Ag Day at Our Family Farm LLC.  This year's theme? "Agriculture: Abundant, Affordable, and Amazing," and it is sponsored by Agriculture of America. Activities will include demonstrations, exhibits, food, games and farm activities, all highlighting agriculture.  This is real farming not the factories that the USDA and FDA would have you think is modern farming. Admission is just $5 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to local Future Farmers of America chapters. 1-5 p.m.
