Wings and Waves - Dauphin Island Wing Cook-Off

COOK TEAMS FLOCKING TO DAUPHIN ISLAND THIS WEEKEND
 
Nine cook teams from across the Alabama Gulf coast are set to turn up the heat at Dauphin Island on September 25 as the island getaway stages its first ever “Wings and Waves” chicken wing cook-off .
 
Presented by the Dauphin Island Chamber of Commerce, “Wings and Waves” will feature spicy concoctions from The Dixie Chickens, The Morgan Lee Cocktail Appreciation Society, Southern Custom Metal Design, O’Daly’s Irish Cluckers, Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, Greer’s Market, Street’s Island Grill, Sysco and Wings in Paradise.
 
A team of celebrity judges led by David Holloway, food editor for the Mobile Press Register, will choose the tasty winners in the mild, hot and free-style categories.
 
Staged at the Alabama Deep Sea Rodeo site, 531 LeMoyne Drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., “Wings and Waves” will cook up an afternoon filled with other activities, too, from live music and a kids’ play area, to SEC football on TV.
 
Sponsors for the first-time event include: The Mobile Convention and Visitors Bureau, Sysco Foods, Lamar Advertising, Southern Custom Metal Design, Skinner’s Seafood, Dee’s Paper, Superior Printing, Academy Sports, Rent a Center, Delta Sanitation, the Dauphin Island Chamber of Commerce and Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.
 
Advance tickets are available for $10 at the Dauphin Island Welcome Center, Mack n’DD’s, The Lighthouse Bakery, Marti’s, the Pelican Pub and other locations on the Island. Event day tickets at the gate are $15. Children under age six are free.
