Florida Cook Jaden Hair's 'Steamy' Book Tour

When people think of the Cuisines of the Third Coast, Asian food is probably the last thing that comes to mind. But the Third Coast has a strong Asian community. Immigrants from Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, to name a few, have found that their expertise in fishing and strong work ethic are tailor made for life along the Gulf of Mexico. Coastal diners not only benefit from their new neighbors acumen on the open sea but also from the fresh flavors they have brought with them.

Jaden Hair is Florida's poet laureate of Eastern Cuisine and she has just published a new cookbook born from her popular Steamy Kitchen blog. The author is currently in New York City in support of the release which includes appearances on The Today Show and the Martha Stewart Radio Show. She has an adventurous schedule over the next few months so until she makes it to your neck of the woods you'll just have to settle for this Press Release:

Looking to create quick, fresh and simple Asian recipes at home similar to your favorite Asian takeout but too scared to try? Look no further! Jaden Hair’s debut title, THE STEAMY KITCHEN COOKBOOK dishes up 101 Asian recipes that are simple enough for tonight’s dinner!

2 ½ years ago, Jaden moved from California to a small Florida town without easy access to Asian markets or her Chinese mother’s kitchen. Becoming more serious about cooking—and needing a place to jot down all of her mother’s kitchen wisdom and recipes—Jaden took her natural talent for making spectacularly simple meals and created from it the award-winning site SteamyKitchen.com and now, THE STEAMY KITCHEN COOKBOOK.

This mouthwatering book offers a feast of contrasts: some very traditional Chinese recipes from Jaden’s mother, such as Mom’s Famous Crispy Eggrolls; not so traditional but modern take out favorites, like Broccoli Beef or the crowd-favorite Firecracker Shrimp; and some recipes that Jaden’s “kidlets” have chosen for you, like Chocolate Wontons and Grilled Pineapple with Chocolate Coconut Rum Sauce—sans the rum for the under-aged crowd, of course!

Along with creating recipes, cooking meals for her family and friends, running her blog and writing a cookbook, Jaden became a one-woman orchestra of cooking, styling, photographing and finally, feeding her family the fruits of her labor. Named as both an ode to her mother’s kitchen, where there’s always something cooking away, and herself, where “steamy” perfectly describes her fiery-hot personality. THE STEAMY KITCHEN COOKBOOK is chock-full of Jaden’s irreverent sense of humor and exceptional cooking. A winning combination of great recipes, gorgeous photos and tongue-in-cheek fun!
