America loves cookbooks. We can’t get enough of them. As many as 18,000 of them are published each year. Many people treat the recipes like algebraical formulas, never a deviation. Others, like myself, rarely cook by a recipe at all but use cookbooks for inspiration.
But something that none of us who produce cookbooks have ever asked those who consume them is what exactly would you like to see in a cookbook? Is there a certain format you prefer? How about nutritional information, is that important? What is it you wish every cookbook included? Clearly pictures are something that everyone has expressed a desire for – you like food porn, we get it – but what else? Help us build the perfect cookbook.
Well, just yesterday I finished editing the cookbook. That's it for the boring stuff. Next on my agenda: food porn. What's Food Porn you may ask?
According to Wikipedia: Food porn is a provocative term variously applied to a spectacular visual presentation of cooking or eating in advertisements, infomercials, cooking shows or other visual media, foods boasting a high fat and calorie content, exotic dishes that arouse a desire to eat or the glorification of food as a substitute for sex.
In other words I have to take pictures of some of the recipes. Most people are just not interested in cookbooks without pictures. I found that out with my last cookbook. I still plan on releasing a revised edition of Amigeauxs that includes pictures. Like these from the new book:

The short-lived HD Network MOJO produced three seasons of a show that is, in my opinion, the best food porn ever. The show was After Hours with Daniel. Famed chef Daniel Boulud has long hosted after hours parties at his restaurants and those of his friends. The menues are outrageous and the guest lists as diverse as any you will ever see. In 2008, Chef Daniel made a swing through the Third Coast visiting some of our most celebrated chefs.
In this episode Boloud visits Susan Spicer's Bayona in New Orleans. The guest list includes Frank Brigtsen, Tenney Flynn, Mindy Kobrin, Poppy Tooker, David Torkanowsky, Tamara Tunie & Sue Zemanick. Enjoy:
