Chef Jeff Tunks to Judge the Best "Bait" at the Annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off
One of the nation’s prominent chefs, known for his knowledge of and passion for the world’s seafood, is on his way to New Orleans to judge the biggest annual seafood competition—The Great American Seafood Cook-off.
Chef Jeff Tunks, Executive Chef and co-proprietor of Passion Food Hospitality’s five popular seafood-centric restaurants (DC Coast, TenPenh, Ceiba, Acadiana, and PassionFish), purchases, on average, $25,000 worth of Gulf seafood per week and is an expert voice for our native seafood. As the Chair of the Southern Food & Beverage Museum, Tunks is looking forward to the Iron Chef-style competition that will feature domestic seafood from the competitors’ home states.
A familiar face in New Orleans, Tunks was the Executive Chef at the Windsor Court Hotel for four years, bringing the Grill Room to AAA Five Diamond status before taking his love for Louisiana cuisine to D.C. Tunks may be one of the judges to crown the 2010 “King of American Seafood,” but he will always hold the scepter, with over 25 years of professional seafood expertise under his belt.
With an unquestionable devotion to celebrating the bounty of our nation’s oceans, lakes, seas, and waterways, Tunks is ready for the competition. Visit greatamericanseafoodcookoff.com to see the full roster of judges and participating chefs.
